  •           The Two Main Types of                          Notarizations are:

    1. Acknowledgment - Certifies that the signer appeared before the notary, the signer acknowledged signing the document, and to the identity of the signer.
    2. Jurat - Certifies that the signer appeared before the notary, the signer signed the document in the presence of the notary, and that the notary administered an oath or affirmation to the signer (to the truthfulness of the statements in the document). Also, as of 2005, certifies the identity of the signer.

  •                Documents Accuracy

    • A Notary is not responsible for the accuracy or legality of the documents they notarize.
    • Notaries only certify the identity of the signers.
    • The signers are responsible for the content of the documents.

  •               Valid Identification is 
               Required for Notarization

    1. Drivers License - California or other state, Canadian, or Mexican
    2. California Identification Card
    3. Military Identification Card
    4. Passport - Non-USA passports must be stamped by the INS
